PETITION - STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF THE UNB WOODLOT IN FREDERICTON

"We, the undersigned, do not agree with the development of the UNB Woodlot by big box retail, road networks that slice through this wildlife refuge, and the slaughter of beavers which significantly reduces the size and biodiversity of its wetlands. Continuation of this development will effectively destroy any meaningful wildlife spaces, areas for student labs and tree research, and quiet spaces for the public to hike."

"We call upon the University of New Brunswick to put a moratorium on development in the Woodlot and preserve the majority of the UNB Woodlot as an uninterrupted wildlife refuge and outdoor teaching lab. Development should stop until extensive, meaningful public participation is coordinated by University of New Brunswick."

This is a virtual pledge. Please, we are not asking you to send us any money! Instead, smartgrowthUNB.ca is a website launched to allow people to make public pledges of future donations to UNB if they fulfill the integrity of their promises with respect to the UNB Woodlot.

Although this pledge represents a future donation to UNB if they follow their stated guidelines, its purpose right now is to ask the University of New Brunswick to put a moratorium on development in the Woodlot and preserve the majority of the UNB Woodlot as an uninterrupted wildlife refuge and outdoor teaching lab. Development should stop until extensive, meaningful public participation is coordinated by University of New Brunswick in order to plan how best to achieve their guiding principles for the management of the UNB Woodlot.
